ACCREDITATIONS

American Academy of Sleep Medicine

AASM accreditation reflects excellence in sleep medicine and is recognized nationally by patients and physicians.

AASM Accreditation continues to be the gold standard for sleep medicine programs.  This is reflected in the fact that in many states third party payors require that sleep studies be performed at AASM accredited facilities for reimbursement.  The Standards for Accreditation and the guidelines incorporated in them were developed by sleep medicine specialists whose knowledge enables them to tailor the requirement for the unique evaluation of sleep disorders patients.  The Standards for Accreditation are regularly reviewed and updated to incorporate the latest advances in sleep medicine.  The Standards for Accreditation are designed to guarantee quality and meet the needs of patients and referring physicians.

Some of the AASM requirements and objectives include:

  1. Clean and comfortable patient environment where patient dignity and safety are upheld
  2. Adherence to evidence based practice parameters
  3. Knowledgeable, trained technical staff
  4. Requirement of the presence of a sleep specialist, reviewing all sleep studies conducted at facility
  5. Professional and technical staff members who are required to remain current in the field of sleep medicine
  6. Relationship with appropriate clinical specialties
  7. Quality assurance plan is necessary and several QA parameters are regularly monitored

SleepWorks facilities practice under the guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  All hospital based labs are operated in accordance with JCHAO policies and procedures.
